Dragon Motor Racing (“DMR”) was established in 2014 by an investment group keen to see motor racing in Australia progress to the next level.
DMR intends to bring a different approach to motor racing in Australia. The team’s main focus is to open doors for young, talented people keen to work in the motor sport industry. The team intends to develop a career path for its staff from Karting to V8 Supercars, with a view that these careers could potentially extend to international competition. We are not just focusing on drivers, but also mechanics, marketing, administration, management, engineering and all other disciplines within the motor sport industry.
Our staff will receive structured training and mentoring through the various skills within the industry, while participating in one of the DMR teams. Having already commenced competing in the Dunlop Series DMR plans to add Karting and Formula 3 to it’s motorsport portfolio over the next 12 months.
April 2014 saw DMR launch into the V8 Supercar Dunlop Series competition with car #24 at Winton and by July’s Townsville event car #13 with have its first race. It is expected that the company’s training V8 Supercar will arrive in the workshop in May 2014 and two VF V8 Supercars COTF will arrive later in 2014. DMR’s Karting team is planned to come online by 1 July 2014 with the Formula 3 campaign scheduled in 2015. (more…)
